What it is
A place to dump your thoughts — that hands you back the story.
DumpDraft is a low-friction, local-first app for capturing the messy notes of any event as they happen, then turning them into a finished write-up when you're done. You do the easy part — jotting quick thoughts. It does the hard part — remembering and organizing them.
The problem it solves
Most note-taking assumes you'll “sit down and write it up later.” But later, the details are gone — who you met, the thing someone said, the follow-up you meant to send, the moment you wanted to remember. And the act of writing it all up is exactly the kind of big, unstructured task that's easy to avoid forever.
DumpDraft breaks that in two. Capturing becomes as easy as texting yourself. Writing it up becomes a button you press at the end, not a project you dread.
How it works
- Text yourself all day. The home screen is a chat thread. Fire off short messages — typed or spoken — whenever you have a second. No filing, no folders, no decisions.
- Tag only if you feel like it. Drop a
#tagto shape the write-up or an@Nameto build a people list. Both are optional — untagged notes still count. - Get your write-up. When the event's over, DumpDraft assembles your notes into a structured document — instantly and offline, or polished by an AI you choose.
The golden rule: nothing ever stands between you and capturing a thought. No sign-in, no setup screen, no “where should this go?” You open the app and you're already typing.
Modes: one app, many kinds of write-up
Each event you create picks a Mode. The mode reshapes the quick-tag chips, the tab names, and — most importantly — the kind of document you get at the end. Switch modes anytime; nothing is locked in.

Tags are always freeform. The chips are just quick-insert suggestions, and any tag a mode doesn't recognize still lands in your notes.
Two ways to a finished write-up
Generate draft
Instant, offline, and deterministic. DumpDraft assembles your tagged notes into a structured report right on your device — no internet, no waiting, no cost. Great as a first pass or a full deliverable.
AI write-up
For polished prose, hand your notes to an AI. You can copy a ready-made prompt into your preferred or org-approved assistant, or (when signed in) generate the write-up in-app. The AI writes the narrative; you stay in control.
Why it's local-first
By default, every note lives only in your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded, no account is required, and the app works fully offline. That's a deliberate choice: your notes can hold private, personal, or sensitive details, and the safest design is one that never transmits them in the first place.
